As you maybe aware it’s almost time for Halloween as the first thing that comes to mind is ‘what’s you’re favourite scary movie’ or in this case it’s food and snack ideas to eat while celebrating All Hallow’s Eve the day of the dead in many different cultures around the world.
Be Scared or Prepared this Halloween with Swizzels
Halloween falls on the 31st of October where both kids and adults of all ages will partake in the fun activities such as Trick or Treating, wearing sometimes silly but amusing costumes and attending friends Halloween Parties. Some of my most fond memories growing up were eating sweets and staying up late on Halloween watching cult Horror Genre Classics such as The Halloween Movie Franchise, Friday 13th to Nightmare on Elm Street if you fancied staying in to celebrate with fun food bits and take out delivery food.
But, whether you choose to stay in or not don’t forget to have some snacks at hand to last you til the end of the movie or the Halloween party for those of you that are Celebrating the end of this month. Halloween party food often consist of fun sweet treats and other Halloween themed food but I wanted to re-kindle what was the most popular sweets I reminisce from my childhood growing up before pic’n mix. In fact some of my most favourite sweets were often found in glass jars of my local news agent. In case you’re wondering my choice would be Swizzels from their drumstick lolly’s to refreshers and who could forget the love hearts are still an absolute British classic that’s been around since 1929.
With reference to the un-dead when ghouls and ghost come back to earth on Halloween, my love for Swizzel sweets will never die, because these taste just sooo good especially at parties when I attended recently the Swizzel’s Halloween Campaign Party launching their new vegan sweets range as well as all my classic favourites. I just have to tell you all about the event and how it actually went during the celebration where the crowd from bloggers, influencers to the press all came down to enjoy the inspired spooktacular pumpkin syrup cocktails and sin and tonic drinks all served with scrumptious canapés during the fun evening.

The best part of the entertainment were live zombie actor’s in character lurking in the dark which made cool photo ops for social media and insta stories GIFs.
It just had to be done. One more thing, it get’s even better as there was even a Tarot Card reader present who could tell the future, to a coffin full of sweets with a tomb stone which fogged up with smoke using dry ice using water which was pretty cool special affects to add to the ambience of the party. Wow!!!!what a great idea!, anyway I think I’ll have to try that one at home next time. Oh and the best part to end the night was being gifted lot’s of sweets by the Swizzel’s team based in Manchester I had the best time celebrating with you guys in preparation for my Halloween. I’ve just been down my local supermarket where you can fully stock up on Swizzel Sweets this Halloween Night!!! so don’t forget yours in case you want to share with your little monsters at home ha ha.

When I first heard that the Italian Fashion Label was hosting a private event during London Fashion Week I knew it was going to be a great party to kick off the start of fashion week. Having attended the very first Iceberg Catwalk show in London since it made a comeback it was definitely one of those labels to watch. Also, I’m such a big fan of their Street Wear since the label was taken over at the helm from Designer James Long their newly appointed creative director from the UK. On Friday 13th Yes!! – I know what most were thinking in case anyone is superstitious it happened to be my lucky day as they had food catering from my favourite Meat Liquor Restaurant – just trying their burgers was delicious as I was feeling very hungry by 6pm while out and about accompanied by Aperol Spritz drinks served throughout the evening. My outfit staple to the party yesterday evening was my signature leather jacket from Iceberg worn with a white t-shirt from Boohoo Man and Skinny Jeans with a pair of desert boots as it’s officially autumn season. The Iceberg event was hosted at the 18montrose store in Kings Cross featuring DJ set’s from Tommy Gold, Jordss and Lifestyle Donald who entertained the crowd last night
Lucky for me I know this city at the back of my hand having been based here a few years I won’t ever find myself bored as there is so much to see and do in London which boast the best bars, restaurants, hotels to fantastic nightlife. Sometimes it’s also good to have time to yourself and reflect like catching up on things like task, hobbies or friends are always great to make you laugh and experience fun things together.
What will you be up to this Bank Holiday Weekend? Nevertheless I hope you make the most it before the new season starts and we begin to see Autumn season again. I don’t think I’ve ever planned that far ahead even though its already just around the corner and we a see a shift again in our wardrobe from spring/summer to autumn/winter styles to dictate what we wear day to day can be exciting also as our favourite staples get their chance to take centre stage.
Today I took a walk from Trafalgar Square and while I was there visited the National Portrait Gallery for a moment of peace away from the Hustle and Bustle of London town just slightly after lunch time. It’s always good to walk on foot if you have the time to spare as you watch the people go by and spontaneously find new places to check out one being unique Hotels with a quiet bar as well as a luxury dining room with exquisite ambience. After a busy morning you’d want to find somewhere to relax and unwind to spend the rest of your lazy afternoon. I’d just arrived at this Hotel on the corner of Suffolk Place on Haymarket where a friend and I decided to pop in for quick drink The Brumus Bar and Restaurant located inside the Haymarket Hotel before heading over to The Haymarket Hotel Bar later in the evening.

The hotel interiors were very elegant and quirky as I noticed the Canine Doggy Pictures upholstered onto the back of the bar chairs and restaurant in a regal purple and pink fuchasia appealed to me. For all you pet lovers at home as they say a man’s best friend is also his dog so immediately I felt very at home here. I thought it had a personal touch as well as being distinctly sophisticated which stood out as a style statement. I’m really impressed from what I’ve seen so far even though it was just a brief visit I’d definitely would pop in again for the foreseeable future if I ever happen to be just passing by in the local area.
Today I went to preview the new Menswear and Womenswear collection during London Fashion Week Men over the weekend for Belstaff Spring Summer 2020 Travelogue in Hoxton Docks East London. I always rather look forward to each season because I admire the contemporary take on the brands history by Belstaff’s Creative Director Lehnhardt-Moore where he captures the imagination of the labels industrial heritage.
For this season the inspiration is drawn from the original archive where travel and exploring remain at the heart of the brands aesthetics hence the self title of the new collection Travelogue. New millenials like to travel as that saying ‘travel makes you richer’ we crave experiences that take us back to nature and thus Belstaff creates the ideal and functional range of fashion forward clothing and accessories for discerning clientele who demand effortless and versatile wardrobe built for contemporary life.
As busy working professionals our intent to have a closet that reflects a fast paced modern life should include perfect transition staples for work, leisure, travel; day to night concept is exactly what Belstaff have created. I felt there was a shift towards conscious and sustainable approach to clothing that will be functional with a purpose to remain beyond seasons.
The atmosphere for the showcase of the new collection at Hoxton Docks set the scene of taking me on a journey of discovering the off beaten track as I really did feel the setting was authentic of the industrial north of England since the labels founding in the 1920’s. You really did feel you were transported back in time observing your surroundings of the exposed brick work, metal struts and warehouse structures. As you enter the warehouse I noticed the space evoked a desert trip with vintage camping canvas, a large tent and cacti brought the collection to life.
Fine details in the collection were kept contemporary with use of contrasts such as juxtaposing textures and colours between soft and hard where the contrast provide the essential look for a modern wardrobe.
Signatures pieces that inspired this seasons collection were the sleevless Castmaster cotton fishing jacket in orange from the archive in orange dry waxed cotton vs khaki version retains sleeves of the original and the XL500 Nautical Jacket from the nineteen seventies was re-imagined in Oxford Nylon.
Themes in the collection explore the influence of military is evident in the use of deep English rifle green and the newly introduced camo tech fabric. I really liked the luxury fine knits and oiled suede polish up the look, contrast with sun faded pique shirts and sweatshirts for men and women.
Throughout the collection worn in looks are created with the use of slub yarns and pigment dyed fabrics for a vintage feel including pieces in dyed sahara cloth and cotton broadcloth create a military look. With this in mind Belstaff have catered to those who love to travel and explore with key looks such as a battered safari jacket is teamed with raw Ecru denim, while new adventure print show line drawn illustrations applied to a rayon shirt for women and linen version for men.
Lastly, to finish off the look for the modern man and woman trooper boots in brown leather and canvas, along with a chukka boots with commando sole in suede and stonewashed cross body canvas bags with leather trims give edge to the collection this spring summer 2020 collection.
Disclaimer: Many Thanks to Belstaff for inviting me to preview the new seasons collections and all opinions expressed will be my own
It’s London Fashion Week Men this weekend as I managed to catch the last leg of the show schedule to attend the Belstaff Presentation preview of the new seasons Womenswear and Menswear Collections Travelogue Spring Summer 2020. Being a Sunday and the weather very pleasant the beginning of June I was feeling inspired by preppy vibes as my weekend off duty look for today’s event. For today’s look I decided to put together a smart casual look incorporating light weight denim and a basic casual separate such as a T-shirt for a relaxed smart casual outfit. I also got to wear one of my favourite signature pinstripe blazers as my statement piece which looks great in anycase to dress up my outfit is very versatile and understated at the same time which goes with anything. I love it because it’s not your standard conventional denim, it’s denim with a twist.

During Day Two of London Fashion Week Men’s it’s always a challenge to find something to wear that feels most comfortable in the sweltering heat of London during the Summer. Even more so you find that it’s best to go for light weight fabrics like linen and cotton that can manage the warm climate.
As a matter of fact I chose to pair a tailored jacket with weekend essential staples such as a simple t-shirt for a smart casual look. Don’t be afraid to experiment with colour against other textures which can look great in contrast to one another. I felt today I wanted to capture the essence of Summer in London but with a resort sort of feel.
For instance, hence the t-shirt evoking a bit a bit nautical details as its’ all about being outdoors making the most of a sunny day in June. Alternative separates apart from your conventional Light weight denim could be chinos also if you want to dress it up a little more depending on the occasion such as sporting events in English Social Calendar this weekend at Polo in The Park Fulham. I’m at Fashion Week anyway and that’s what I’m up to going to shows during the day and if there’s time to catch up with friends why not!

How is everyone’s summer going so far as London town wouldn’t feel complete without Men’s Fashion Week and today is Day One of LFW Mens. The first day is always an exciting one, because we all know there are a quite a few events and big shows going on all at once. All of the attention today would be on one cult fashion house which brings me to mention that Italy’s biggest Street wear Label ICEBERG is doing their London Take Over during Men’s Fashion Week. For today I was lucky enough to go along with a friend to attend this show and one of my current favorites as the Italian designers are known for bright use of vibrant colour too.
I just had to wear something from the label such as my signature piece leather jacket is very luxury in quality being made in Italy. I have fond memories in purchasing this jacket and what I most love about it is the sport lux feel to the fabric is versatile for the warm weather we were experiencing in London today. When the weather get’s warm it’s best to have breathable layers so it’s easy to manage while on the go during fashion week. Being Friday evening I thought it was best to stick to an all black colour palette as it’s minimal and just my style, but sometimes I tend to switch in between other looks depending on how I’m feeling that day, where I am going and who I’m going to meet sounds appropriate don’t you think.
The perils of recently engaged party dress code – you are not alone in your dilemma. Morningwear, black tie, or the good old no dress code specified. From personal experience it’s all in the details don’t you agree?
Wedding fever has got the better of us, and with so many dress codes what does a gent wear ? Check out my recommendations on what to wear to that Summer Wedding, which reminds me that my close friends are announcing their official engagement at a formal cocktail party before the big day.
I find Weddings are the best way to kick off the summer before the new seasons sporting calendar calls for a change of attire and embark on our summer vacation.
There’s never been a better time to discover tailoring that looks great, no matter what season it is and of course fine accessories to match. There are some great range of watches by brands Larsson and Jennings or Smart Turnout which I love for their vibrant watch straps just like the one I have is a classic preppy style. The look is now complete which reminds something is missing perhaps gifts for the future Bride and Groom as I still have a bit of time to organise before tomorow’s engagement party!
